UniGe is a teaching and research institution organized in 22 departments, 5 schools, 14 interuniversity research centers, 2 strategic centers and 1 center of excellence. Its educational offer includes 128 Bachelor and Master courses, 28 PhD courses divided into 90 curricula, 58 specialization schools, 27 I-level and II-level University Masters, and 5 Libraries.

The University of Genova is an active participants in EC Framework programmes and in other important European, national and international research and cooperation programmes. Within the Horizon 2020 scheme, UniGe has been awarded 93 contracts,  26 of such contracts are funded under MSCA Actions.

A well-coordinated administrative network, where different offices (at the central and department level) work in synergy to support researchers during all phases of project (design, submission, implementation, financial management, and technology transfer assistance), supports participation in competitive research programmes.

The University of Genoa offers international students a wide range of welcoming activities. UNIGE has also an International Student Office (SASS) which provides assistance to foreign students and researchers.
